KRELL INTRODUCES THE MASTER REFERENCE SUBWOOFER--THE WORLD'S ULTIMATE SUBWOOFER
Las Vegas, NV--Krell Industries, Inc. manufacturer of high-end audio and video equipment for serious music enthusiasts and home theater aficionados, is pleased to announce the introduction of the world's ultimate subwoofer, the Krell Master Reference Subwoofer. Representing the ultimate triumph of force over area, the massive yet compact Master Reference Subwoofer houses a Krell Class A amplifier that produces 2,600 Watts of power, weighs 420 pounds, has a footprint of less than four square feet, and is capable of reproducing a frighteningly low 20 Hz tone at 120 dB of sound pressure level. In addition to housing the remarkable amplifier, the one inch machined aluminum chassis encases two fifteen-inch woofers, and a sophisticated digitally controlled crossover network, and remains totally inert under all operating conditions.
The Master Reference Subwoofer is the second Master Reference component designed by Krell C.E.O. Dan D'Agostino, and follows in the tradition established by the Master Reference Amplifier. Master Series components are designed and engineered to be the paragon of their genre. The Master Reference Subwoofer sets the new benchmark in subwoofer performance by delivering a unique combination of low frequency impact and musical detail previously unavailable anywhere. The unique qualities of the Master Reference Subwoofer include:
- The Amplifier. A massive fully regulated Class A Krell amplifier that delivers 2600 Watts controls the woofers, telling them when to start and when to stop, and forces them to obey these commands. All previous subwoofer designs have suffered from a lack of proper amplification, resulting in inadequate control over the drivers. The 20 year Krell history of engineering high performance amplifiers allows us to design the right amplifier to accomplish the assigned task.
- The Electronics. Working in conjunction with the power amplifier, the Krell Active Motion Control monitors and governs the woofer's performance at all times. The system optimizes the relationship between the driver and amplifier in order to deliver the horsepower to play at realistic listening levels, the direction to behave appropriately, and the mechanics to make it work.
- The Chassis. The one-inch solid billet chassis, highlighted by a beautiful precision diamond-cut finish, provides ultimate rigidity and resonance-free sound. Krell chose this design because we discovered that aluminum is the only workable material strong enough to withstand the substantial pressures generated within a subwoofer and still remain inert. Wood-based enclosures simply cannot contain these pressures without adding distortion and coloration.
- The Drivers. The Master Reference Subwoofer uses two fifteen-inch woofers with three-inch front-to-back excursions for hurricane-like air movement.
- The Features. The list of features alone makes the Master Reference Subwoofer without peer. Among the Krell innovations are:
- CAST and voltage inputs make the Master Reference Subwoofer easy to interface with any electronics.
- The crossover employs selectable high and low pass crossover points, filter type, slope, level, and phase for each of four presets.
- There are many ways to control the Master Reference Subwoofer including the handheld remote control that comes with the subwoofer, Krell Link, 12 VDC (12Volt trigger), RS-232, and baseband RC-5 via wired connection.
- Separate Low Frequency Effects (LFE) inputs for simultaneous connection of both main and LFE outputs from a preamp/processor enables system optimization for both stereo and home theater applications.
The Master Reference Subwoofer provides the perfect bass solution for any audio, video, or home entertainment system. Its user controllable parameters allow the listener to optimize the subwoofer for use with different speakers, sources, room acoustics, and personal preferences. The included remote control makes using and experimenting with the subwoofer almost as much fun as listening to it.
Krell components are known for setting the performance standard in their category. Master Series components are the ultimate expression of that philosophy--they redefine the reference product category. While language may describe the features and photographs may provide a sense of beauty and scale, the performance of the Master Reference Subwoofer must be experienced to be fully appreciated. With its ability to reproduce the lowest fundamental frequencies of the organ, the window shattering effects from cinema soundtracks, and with aesthetics which bespeak both power and elegance, the Krell Master Reference Subwoofer is truly worthy of its "master reference" heritage and the standard-bearer of state-of-the-art subwoofer performance.
