KRELL® INTRODUCES THE KAV-280p AFFORDABLE STEREO PREAMPLIFIER AT WCES 2002

Las Vegas, NV -- Krell Industries, Inc., manufacturer of high-end audio and video equipment for music and home theater systems, is pleased to announce the introduction the KAV-280p stereo preamplifier. The KAV-280p is a superb sounding stereo preamplifier that complements the KAV Series of components that were introduced in 2001. With the KAV-280p, the KAV Series now provides customers with value added components from source to final amplification and for traditional stereo, multichannel audio, and home theater applications.

The KAV-280p uses current tunnel and surface mount technology derived directly from our state-of-the-art KCT preamplifier for extremely wide bandwidth, thus making the KAV-280p the ideal preamplifier for today's high resolution sources. Additional circuitry includes Krell's latest Class A direct-coupled design wherein the entire signal path from input to output is fully balanced. This includes a fully balanced volume control, implemented via fixed resistor attenuators under digital control. The circuits are powered by a dedicated supply with discrete voltage regulators, and there is a separate, dedicated power supply for all digital control circuits. All signal switching is accomplished via hermetically sealed multiple-contact precision relays. With its unique Theater Throughput™ feature, the KAV-280p can easily adapt to future home theater applications.

The KAV-280p does far more than provide great sonic performance; it also provides a high level of operational convenience and functional versatility. Balanced and single-ended inputs and outputs are provided for complete compatibility with source components. Krell's Theater Throughput™ mode simplifies integration into home theater systems and is selectable for all inputs. The preamplifier can be fully operated via a supplied handheld remote control.
