Additional circuitry in the KAV-280p includes Krell's latest Class A direct-coupled design, with the entire signal path fully balanced from input to output. This includes a fully balanced volume control. Circuits are powered by a dedicated supply with discrete voltage regulators, and there is a separate, dedicated power supply for all digital control circuits. All signal switching is accomplished via hermetically sealed multiple-contact precision relays.

The KAV-280p does far more than provide great sonic performance; it also provides a high level of operational convenience and functional versatility. The KAV-280p can easily adapt to future home theater applications using the unique Krell Theater Throughput™ feature, which simplifies integration into home theater systems. Balanced and single-ended inputs and outputs are provided for complete compatibility with source components, and Theater Throughput™ may be selected for all inputs. The preamplifier can be fully operated via a supplied handheld remote control.
